dierubix is kyle kyte

kyle was born in illinois. some early tapes his father gave him included the talking heads, black sabbath, the beach boys, and aerosmith. Around the age of 11 kyle started playing and learning percussion through the public school. his first cd's included prince the beastie boys, and primus.  by his early teens the grunge rock movement was in full swing and kyle acquired and started making tapes of pearl jam, nirvana, smashing pumpkins, to name  few. around this time kyle moved to north carolina with his mother and started high school, he stopped studying and playing percussion, and instead spend his timelistenning to nine inch nails, the dead kennedys, tool, and rage against the machine, and started experimenting with electronics.

kyle returned to illinios to finish high school. he  joined the school band once again, and was officially veering towards a more creative life. while he had studied math and science extensively though out high school, now he took more art classes. in one such art class he met andrew thomas (kid a), who one day offered his head phones, "it's drum and bass." from kyle's experience in school band, he thought it was percussion and brass instruments, but it was actually "new forms" by reprazent. the album changed his life. by this time kyle experimentation with audio electronics and blossomed. before he left high school he had mastered the component system, tape and digital sound recording and had began tinkering with a software sequencer called mod-plug tracker. (a program he uses to this day). but it was new forms that made kyle see that the future of music lay in electronics.

kyle's enrolled at columbia college chicago where he studied film. his first year sountrack was primarily four albums by bjork, and four albums by aphex twin, and a musical epiphany that was portishead. kyle had borrowed "live in new york" from nick alvarez (ten speed), and within a week had bought all their albums. buzz around school surrounding the film pi, with a soundtrack featuring aphex twin, lead kyle to massive attack's mezzanine which along with new forms and dummy form the core of his influences.

the second year of college, kyle was dropping out, to busy selling drugs and going to raves to worry about film school. kyle was living with ben walker, and they were making music daily. a drugged out assortment of noises controlled by fruity loops, recorded unto cassette tape. the day ben moved out kyle wrote what could be considered his first song. it was called the story of the disappointed toast, and featured a sample of a toaster the two of them had used frequently. one of bens friends moses harris (kid static) came over to eat some mushrooms and mentioned he used mod plug tracker to write music. this was perhaps the biggest turning point for kyle. he banded together with moses and along with some friends, listened to a bunch of radiohead, smoked  a bunch of shitty weed, and started anodyne records.

that was six years ago. since then anodyne electric company has produced a slew of events in chicago, a few in los angeles, and at least one in new york. kyle have played shows in chicago, and los angeles, solo as dierubix,  and as a part of june in july, n.s.o.k. (with ricky ropesack), and grayworld (with blackbird). kyle has contributed songs to theater, and film, and has released three eps on anodyne, genesis exists, epoz, and architects (as analog elephant).
